C armelo Anthony’s debut on the big stage at Madison Square Garden was a huge hit. Melo scored 27 points and made 10 rebounds, in front of a crowd that cheered his every move as New York beat the Milwaukee Bucks 114-108 last night. He matched the third-highest scoring game in a Knicks debut since 1964, just two points shy of Keith Van Horn’s 29 points in 2003. After the game Carmelo joined his wife, La La, and other teammates, including Amar’e Stoudemire for a “Welcome To New York” dinner at Jay-Z’s restaurant, The Spotted Pig in the West Village. In other Carmelo news: just 24 hours after Carmelo Anthony announced that he would be playing for the NY Knicks, VH1 announced that they would be teaming up with La La Vazquez and Melo once again for a follow-up to the tv show documenting the road to their big day. In “La La’s Full Court Life” (tentatively titled), the 10 episode, 30 minute docu-series, which began filming in January, will continue where the wedding special, “La La’s Full Court Wedding” left off.
The show will focus on Carmelo’s move to New York and La La working through her new life as a married woman. “Viewers connect with La La because despite the fairy tale wedding and NBA star husband, she is a real, down-to-earth, hardworking woman who stays true to herself,” said Jeff Olde, EVP, Original Programming and Production, VH1. “The best thing about the new series is that while pursuing and realizing her dreams, La La gets to take us back to her home in New York, where her story began.”
