HUNGER GAMES MOVIE DRAWS RACIST ATTACKS

L enny Kravtiz and fellow actors Amandla Stenberg and Dayo Okeniyi definitely hit it big when they landed their roles in the mega box office hit, The Hunger Games. But some fans of The Hunger Games object to these actors playing key characters in the film. The objection centers on the casting of black actors in these roles. Although both Rue (Amandla) and Thresh (Dayo) are described as having “dark brown skin” in the book, still some bigoted fans, oddly enough, see things differently. Complained one fan on Twitter: “Why does Rue have to be black not gonna lie kinda ruined the movie.” One particularly shocking tweet reads: “Since when has Rue been a nigger.”

Racism still exists and it is nothing anyone should be surprised about. We’ve got an Black president in office, and we know that didn’t change certain peoples’ views on how they feel about Black people. I don’t believe that racism will ever be erase, as long as ignorance exist. Lenny Kravitz plays a stylist named Cinna — but Cinna’s race is never explicitly mentioned.
