The North Carolina Gospel Announcers Guild of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) will bring their 11th Annual Convention to the Greenville Convention Center on May 27 – 30, 2009. Headed up by Pastor Arvetra Jones, Jr., the North Carolina Convention has been compared to a mini-GMWA and is heralded as a trendsetter in the industry. Past attendance for this event has been upward of 2,000 attendees.

The Convention will begin on Wednesday night, May 27, with The Annual Prestige Awards Banquet and will be hosted by Regina Belle and Al “The Bishop” Hobbs, President of the National Gospel Announcers Guild. Industry workshops will be held during the day, which will enlighten, empower and educate radio announcers, gospel music artists and anyone interested in the radio and music industry. Music showcases will be held on Thursday and Friday nights. Some of the national recording artists performing are Tonex, Dorothy Norwood, Darrell McFadden & The Disciples, Minister Earl Bynum, Bishop Neal Robeson, Gerald Hinton, Shonda English, Nu Tradition and Minister Calvin Suggs. As many as thirty groups are expected to perform during the Convention.
