Jay-Z, like President Obama, is in favor of legalizing gay marriage. In an interview with CNN’s Poppy Harlow, he called anti-gay legislation “no different from discriminating against blacks.” Hip-hop isn’t exactly recognized as the most gay-friendly genre, but that may change now that hip-hop mogul Jay-Z has revealed his thoughts on gay marriage. “I’ve always thought it as something that’s still holding the country back,” Jay said. “What people do in their homes is their business and you choose to love whoever you love. Just a few hours after the lawyers for George Zimmerman received the witness list and the evidence list from the prosecutors, they got some more bad news. Charges against Zimmerman could be getting more serious. State prosecutors said Zimmerman, profiled and stalked 17-year-old Trayvon Martin before killing him, so the FBI is now looking into charging him with a hate crime. LeToya Luckett has landed a new gig as the face of AJ Crimson Make-Up line. The make-up will officially make it’s debut next month. AJ Crimson, best known for his work with Keyshia Cole, Mya, Missy Elliot, Christina Milian, and Raven-Symone launched his first product, Kissable Couture, back in 2007 with his business partner Keisha Nash-Whitaker (wife of Forest Whitaker). Director Lee Daniels is filling out an impressive roster for his upcoming drama The Butler. Actors Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard have joined a cast that already includes Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, David Oyelowo, and Jane Fonda. The film is based on the real-life story of Eugene Allen who worked as a butler in the White House from 1952 to 1986, serving under eight presidents. His experience was documented in a 2008 Washington Post story entitled A Butler Well Served by This Election. It is unclear what roles Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard will take but — The Butler will begin shooting in New Orleans in July.
Shonda Rhimes is one step closer to owning ABC. The Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice creator’s freshman political drama Scandal has been picked up for a second season by ABC. The political soap, which centers on professional crisis “fixer” Olivia Pope played by Kerry Washington, who has a special relationship with the President of the United States, garnered 6.5 million viewers and a 2.0 rating in the demo in its most recent episode. Alpha Lorenzo Walker threatened to go to the tabloids and say he’s the product of an incestuous relationship between Stevie and Stevie’s sister — unless the singer coughed up big bucks.
