Comedian Steve Harvey partnered with American Airlines to kick off the first annual Steve Harvey mentoring weekend. The program is encouraging aviation among young African American men. 100 young men from all over the country flood Dallas Executive airport this past weekend to spend “Father’s Day” at Steve’s ranch in Dallas.
Steve Harvey was head of the mentoring weekend that pushes the young men to think about high tech careers like aviation. He says, ” All these kids are not going to be pilots, I’m not stupid, you know, but guess what?..all of these kids can be inspired to be something great though.”
Steve even flew in examples of success stories, dozens of African American pilots from across the country. Throughout the day they personally taught the basics of flying. All of the young men spent the rest of the day shadowing professional pilots.
According to organizers of this weekend’s event, the 100 young men who participate in the Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend were picked from more than 1,000 applicants.
I love what Steve is doing, he is putting his money where his mouth is!!!
